Make This The Year
It’s Just A Thought
“Make This The Year?”
Margaret Young as quoted in Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach, said “You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.”
“This is the year.” How often have we heard ourselves say that one? Make this “the year”, that is “the year” you truly begin to live it, be it, what ever that “it” is.
What if you knew this were the only year, your last year upon this earth? What is it you are here to do? You say you don’t know! I say, you do. It is time to ask the question. Sometimes we as humans complicate notions that are actually quite simple. Ask the question, what am I here to do or start more simply with, what is mine to do this day? As the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke wrote, “Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.” It is simple enough to take inventory of your life, your home, your employment, your whatever and ask, am I happy, is this the dream I dreamt for me. If not this is the year to begin living your most creative, joyous adventure called life. Live the questions knowing the joy is in the simplicity of your answers. This year become the curator of your life’s history.
In my second year of studies at Sancta Sophia Seminary, I remember one three week residency I could not seem to calm my center enough to sleep. I was up walking and dancing through Sparrow Hawk Village in Oklahoma at 1:00am. My energy was so entangled with thoughts of fulfilling my destiny that I could not quiet enough to question, to dream nor hear in the silence of wisdom the answers. Suddenly I found myself in front of the sanctuary doors yelling, yes, yelling at God, “What do you want from me?” I felt the winch, heard the shhhh and in the breath of a voice unuttered the answer of enormous simplicity, “Just Be.” Just Be? Just Be? Just Be. I remember responding in thought something like, “So, I don’t have to be Mother Teresa or Princess Diana? Just Be.” Immediately I felt my heart calm, my inner world went quiet and my breath and heartbeat became one. I didn’t have a clue as to what “Just Be” meant and I realized in that instance that certainly this “Just Be” was more than what I knew or could fathom but I felt embraced in unconditional love, peace and contentment knowing I had the answer to the beginning of my Path as it was in that moment. Just Be.
We are wise, strong, and creative when it comes to living life and dreaming dreams. This is not a dress rehearsal. This is your life. Make this your year you let go of any beliefs that you are less than who you are, go silent daily just for awhile knowing your authentic self awaits your coming, listen and live the questions until you live the answers from within. Enjoy who you are and all the possibilities you have in your power to be your authentic self as you create your life, your living history, willing to be, to live your dream.
Just a quick note of Numerology, 2008 is a One Year. 2 + 8 = 10 / 1 + 0 = 1. One is about will, spirit, creation, unity, energy and a Point of Light. It is about success, power, managing, inventing, new ventures and better opportunities. It’s Just A Thought, but I’m thinking you and I will “Make This The Year” of beginning a lifetime of fulfilled dreams.
