There is an illuminating thought in Wisdom Teachings that when Science, Religion and Art are understood again as One there will be World Peace.

Let us look then upon the definition of each from Webster’s New Complete Desk Reference Book.

Science: “The study and theoretical explanation of natural phenomena in an orderly way; knowledge acquired through experience.”

Religion:  “An organized system of beliefs, rites, and celebrations centered on supernatural being power; belief pursued with devotion.”

Art: “A human skill of expression of other objects by painting, drawing, sculpture, etc; a branch of learning.”

Each speaks to individuals as well as whole cultures living through knowledge acquired through experience used to guide our belief pursued through the human skill of expression. The One is in each and each within the One.

It was Nicholas Roerich (Russia 1874 – 1947), renowned visionary, artist, author and cultural leader, who through his writing, painting and teaching in the early 20th century, believed humanity was “entering a new era of human advancement when science, philosophy, religion and culture would be taught as one, giving rise to an enlightened society resting upon the cornerstone of knowledge and beauty.” Nicholas Roerich was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his design of and efforts with the “Roerich Pact and Banner of Peace” which President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed into law in April 1935. The New Dictionary of Spiritual Thought by Rev. Carol Parrish-Harra, Ph.D.

Imagine if you will all cultures giving recognition to individual religions, leading to the acceptance of similarities as well as the few differences between each. Acceptance leads to peace, fore if there is a true allowance of other’s beliefs in harmlessness there is nothing to fight about.

The One is not owned by one, the One just is. Through the One, some may call God, others may call Universal Life Force Energy, others The Creator, Absolute, Maintainer, The Light, Generating Power of the Universe, we are gifted natural phenomena as general truths by which to live and breathe and have our being in the human experience and expression in the different pathways through the art of life.

It was with great joy I recently taught a 7-week course at Light Paths (One Light many Paths to the One Light) called Religions East and West. Weekly the excitement built as participants realized there truly is little difference in the belief systems of the Major World Religions and those differences were mostly man made dogma. Weekly they literally saw defined before them the similarities their own beliefs had with a religion they knew little or nothing about. We took what we called Spiritual Road Cruises to Houses of Worship different from most participants. Again the similarities were experienced through the different worship rites. By the end of the course it was understood that knowledge acquired through experience guiding our beliefs pursued through our human expression can direct us to acceptance leading our world to peace.

We each play our part in how the world is each day within our homes and our work environments therefore society at large. Perhaps it is as simple as within each of us the conscious awareness of being the bridge between the science, religion and art of our world bringing into our life experience peace resulting in the state of harmony between all peoples. It’s Just A Thought…
